There are ten teachers in the science faculty who are always available for solving any type of problem that students may have—even after school time. There are three separate laboratories that are well-equipped for physics, chemistry and biology. The big library at the heart of the school contains up to date science books. This is important for students and encourages them with their project work.
Who has not experienced wonder and amazement at the variety of life that surrounds us every day? To study biology is to study life and living things. Biology looks at how different living things behave and interact with each other. Living things include plants, animals, fungi, as well as micro-organisms such as bacteria.
Chemistry is the study of the matter that makes up our bodies and the world around us. It explores this matter to understand its composition as well as how the matter behaves and interacts with other matter. At LHPIC, instruction covers Physical, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry.
Physics is the study of the processes that make up the world around us. It explores concepts related to energy and force in order to explain the behaviour of the universe.
Mathematics is the study of quantities. It is essential in many fields, such as the natural sciences, engineering, medicine, finance and social sciences.
LHPIC recognises that not everyone is naturally gifted in maths, and we specialise in caring for and encouraging students that are less confident in maths to develop their skills.
Students within each faculty also study Hindi to develop confidence in expression and clearness of thought. Language instruction includes drama and dance, and students and families enjoy a major production in Hindi every year at the Annual Function.
FACULTY OF SCIENCE
At LHPIC, teaching within the Science Faculty is not dependent on knowledge from books, but prioritizes practical knowledge gained through students’ ability to experience ‘hands on’ learning. In each area of study, students are supported to approach learning with creative problem solving as well as critical thinking skills. Our motto is “do and learn”.
